Role: Design, wireframing, usability testing
While working at L’Chef I redesigned the Bosch Mixers landing page. Responsible for both layout and responsiveness. Created animations with CSS, including scrolling text and “stacking” mixer as users scroll. While created mainly in WordPress, this was a fun project to stretch my HTML and CSS skills as I fine-tuned the page’s capabilities. It was important while designing this site to create personas of possible Bosch Mixer customers; because I’m not a part of the target demographic, it was especially important to understand what customers look for when shopping for a new stand mixer, and highlight features that set Bosch Mixers apart from other mixers on the market.
Objective: The objective of the website redesign project for Bosch Mixers was to create a modern, user-friendly, and visually appealing online platform that effectively showcases the company’s products, enhances the user experience, and drives customer engagement and conversions. The project aimed to address the challenge of outdated design and functionality, elevate the brand’s online presence, and streamline the browsing and purchasing process for customers.
Approach:
- User-Centric Design Research:
- Conducted user surveys, interviews, and usability tests to gain insights into customer preferences, pain points, and behavior patterns when interacting with the current website.
- Analyzed competitor websites and industry best practices to identify opportunities for improvement and differentiation.
- Strategic Planning and Information Architecture:
- Developed a strategic plan and information architecture for the website redesign, organizing content and navigation in a logical and intuitive manner to facilitate easy exploration and discovery.
- Prioritized key product categories, features, and benefits to highlight on the homepage and throughout the site based on customer needs and interests.
- Visual Design and Branding:
- Designed a fresh and modern visual identity for the website, incorporating clean layouts, high-quality imagery, and cohesive typography and color schemes that align with the brand’s aesthetic and values.
- Created custom graphics and illustrations to enhance visual appeal and communicate product features and benefits effectively.
- Enhanced Product Presentation and User Experience:
- Revamped product pages with clear and concise product descriptions, specifications, and imagery to provide customers with comprehensive information and facilitate informed purchasing decisions.
- Implemented interactive features such as product comparison tools, customer reviews, and related product recommendations to enhance the browsing experience and encourage exploration.
- Mobile Responsiveness and Performance Optimization:
- Ensured seamless functionality and optimal performance across various devices and screen sizes by implementing responsive design principles and performance optimization techniques.
- Conducted thorough testing and debugging to identify and resolve any compatibility issues, usability concerns, or performance bottlenecks.
Results:
- Improved User Engagement and Conversion Rates: The website redesign led to increased user engagement, longer session durations, and higher conversion rates as customers found the new website more intuitive, visually appealing, easier to navigate, and informative.
- Enhanced Brand Perception: The modern and professional design of the website elevated the brand’s online presence and credibility, reinforcing its position as a leading provider of high-quality stand mixers.
Conclusion: The website redesign project for Bosch Mixers demonstrates my ability to leverage user-centric design principles, strategic planning, and creative execution to transform outdated digital experiences into modern, user-friendly, and effective online platforms. By focusing on enhancing visual appeal, usability, and functionality, I successfully contributed to the brand’s growth and success in the competitive e-commerce landscape.
